Girls Just Want to Have Fun, from the series Engrams (2015)

Statement:
My photography is born out of reality but works as a device to search for the oneiric. Extracting the uncanny out of the usual.

I often work between the contemporary and the classical, as a reflection of health and sickness, of pain without injury, and of damage without awareness. On the whole, through my work I try to give life to concerns of our collective memory which appear to be buried but are actually a part of the portrait of our times.

My characters become substitutes of myself, as autobiographical messengers that connect with the psyche and at the same time are the catalyst of meaning locked in the images as something almost degenerate, uninhibited and interpersonal.

I believe art is not founded on a specific technique, I believe it has to do with the symbolic properties presented by objects or materials and the relationships it finds with the context they inhabit. I am interested in conceptual strategies that have to do with the body as an object of study and as a medium to approach to memory and trauma.
