Statement:
Sometimes I wish I could forget what I know and — starting from the particular — build a new system that helps me understand the universal from a new perspective. I work intuitively, using different sources and appropriating various materials — thrift store paintings, YouTube videos, stock images or personal photographs. From these I create a new language, a vocabulary of visual signs that are different and disconnected from their original meaning. My practice is based on miscommunication. Iā€™m interested in the kaleidoscopic nature of words and how their meaning changes depending on the language I speak. I see words ā€“ similarly to photographs and paintings ā€“ as containers on which we project intimate shades, thus making translation a very misleading process.
