Melanie Flood

Statement:
Suggested Experiences embraces emergence, chance, and failure. The works suggest misaligned narratives composed via the juxtaposition of photographic studies of richly patterned textiles, playful tableaux based on blurry childhood memories, and quiet, focused arrangements. More explicitly, a suite of self portraits explore the passage of time with questions around cultural notions of youth and aging. Suggested Experiences questions expression itself as well as the ways documentation serves and challenges an evolving creative process.
