MIRAGE from #digitaldeli. @marcoscozzaro is taking over Baxter St Instagram. The Ensoniq Mirage is an early sampler from 1984. The concept behind this machine has inspired my current photography practice of sampling and appropriating fragments of cultural artifacts to comment on displacement and identity. Its hybrid technology – an 8bit digital chip smothered out by a warm analogue filter – is also mirrored in my analogue/digital workflow.
