#sidewalksignalcode recreate nautical signal code flags using images I made while wandering the streets of New York City. They provide a system of communication understood from a distance, and used when lost at sea or on the sidewalk. Like the flags’ original function, my flags correspond to the alphabet and relay simple, urgent messages. “J” also means “I am on fire and have dangerous cargo on board, keep well clear of me.” “X” is the title of my show #stopcarryingoutyourintentionsandwatchformysignals
