UPCOMING COMMUNITY

‘Be Like Water’ Fellowship Presentations

Please join us on Wednesday September 17th at 6 PM at 154 Ludlow St for a night of presentations by BAXTER ST’s 2025 Be Like Water fellowship participants focusing on each artist’s personal practice. The presentations will be followed by a short reception.

Led by Alison Kuo, an artist and community arts organizer with over 10 years of experience working in higher education and artist residencies in New York City, the program was designed to support lens-based artists with a demonstrated commitment to working in communities of the Asian diaspora in New York City. Over the summer the fellows met weekly and discussed topics from the practicalities of getting their work seen to broad concerns about ethics in photography. This working group provided not only a sounding board for questions and concerns about the field of photography but also a sense of community and peer mentorship among the group.
The cohort includes Marion Aguas, Lanna Apisukh, Mengwen Cao, Edward Cheng, Cal Hsiao, Jiwoong Jang, Sam Lee, Annie Ling, Tif Ng, Cindy Trinh, Sonia Tsang, and Lin Wang. Artists were nominated from an advisory committee based on their existing work with the aim of representing a variety of practices, backgrounds, and professional trajectories.

The Be Like Water Fellowship is made possible through support from the Mellon Foundation.
