Exhibition Dates: October 26, 2023 - December 6, 2023
Opening Reception: 2023-10-26
Location: 126 Baxter Street, NYC

Material Evidence proposes the extension of an image’s lifespan beyond the archive by introducing a conversation among multi-disciplinary lens based artists. With the works of Nazanin Noroozi and Esperanza Mayobre, Material Evidence assembles an array of works on canvas and paper alongside photographs and film footage that the artists use to vanish the original photographer’s presence, asserting their hand-applied revitalization of a historicized record.

Daniel Ramos

Exhibition Dates: September 13, 2023 - December 2, 2023
Opening Reception: September 13, 2023 6-8PM
Location: 128 Baxter Street, NYC

Baxter St at the Camera Club of New York is pleased to present Eres Muy Hermosa, a solo exhibition of work by photographer Daniel Ramos. The presentation comprises eight large-scale portraits of working-class people in Monterrey, Mexico, and shines a light on people who are routinely overlooked or regularly go unnoticed. Displayed together in Baxter St’s Project Space (128 Baxter St New York, NY), which visitors regularly use as a place to work, connect, and contemplate, the large-scale portraits create an immersive feel, enveloping visitors as they inhabit the space.
PAST EXHIBITION

It’s Never Too Late to Admit That You Love Me

Darryl DeAngelo Terrell

Exhibition Dates: September 13, 2023 - October 18, 2023
Opening Reception: September 13, 2023 6-8PM
Location: 126 Baxter Street, NYC

Baxter St is proud to present It’s Never Too Late to Admit That You Love Me, a solo exhibition of photographs by Baxter St 2023 Resident Darryl DeAngelo Terrell. Using song lyrics as points of entry, these self-portraits explore desire and the identity and body politics of being deemed worthy of love. As a self-identified fat, black, queer, disabled person coming from a disenfranchised family in Detroit, Darryl renders themselves in scenarios of love and intimacy that often go unseen and uncelebrated by the public gaze.
