Mirages of Dreams Past

2020 Workspace Resident Alanna Fields’ solo exhibition, Mirages of Dreams Past will be on view at Baxter St from May 5th – June 9th, 2021.

“Working intimately with black queer vernacular photography, my work aims to reconstruct and decontextualize images and ephemera of the past, pushing them past nostalgia. My incorporation of found materials functions as a means of investigating the concealment, fragmentation, and configuration of the black queer body. Through mixed media collages, my utilization of wax serves as a means to blur legibility and to address the intro-cultural and historical suppression of black queer narratives.” – Alanna Fields
