Join us on Saturday June 8 at 12 PM for a Photo Book Share hosted by Baxter St 2023 Artist in Residence and publisher of Matarile Ediciones, Martha Naranjo Sandoval on the occasion of her solo exhibition Flowering Wound at Baxter St.
In this special occasion Photo Book Share Naranjo Sandoval will share projects she has published through Matarile Ediciones while also inviting participants to bring a zine from their own collection to share with the group. Baxter St’s Photobook Share is an opportunity for community members at any stage in their careers to bring their favorite photography publication and present it in a casual setting. This event is a great opportunity to be exposed to a variety of artist books and publishers and to connect with new individuals who share an interest in the form of the photobook.
Matarile Ediciones is an artist-run photo book publisher that focuses on artists who are immigrants, their children, or part of a recent diaspora. Matarile Ediciones is run by Martha Naranjo Sandoval, who edits and produces the publications and Aline Enríquez, who designs them. They are based in Brooklyn, New York and Mexico City.
Martha Naranjo Sandoval (b. 1989 Mexico City, Mexico) is a Brooklyn-based visual artist, publisher, photobook seller, and cataloguer. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States and internationally at the International Center of Photography, Queens, NY; Flux Factory, Long Island City, NY; and The Lumber Room, Portland, OR. Her work is also included in the collections of Proyecto Bachué in Bogotá, Columbia; International Center of Photography Library, New York, NY; Museum of Modern Art Library, New York, NY; Pratt University, New York, NY; Mediateca del Centro de Diseño, Cine y Televisión in Mexico City, Mexico among others. She received her MFA in Advanced Studies in Photography at the International Center of Photography and Bard College, and her BFA in Film and Television from the Centro de Diseño, Cine y Televisión.
