WILDNESS: Book Signing

Join us on Saturday, June 11th from 12 – 2 PM in our Project Space at 128 Baxter St for a book signing of WILDNESS, by The Queer Critique Group.

Photographers include Chris Berntsen, Ali Di Luccia, Liz Liguori, Michael McFadden, Ellie Musgrave, Marc Ohrem-Leclef, Dr. Picturesque, Kaz Senju, Jeanette Spicer, Bill Travis, Sam Zalutsky. The book also contains writing by renowned photographers, artists, and curators, including: Allen Frame, Katherine Hubbard, Duane Michals, Nandita Raman, and Drew Sawyer.

Inspired by cultural critic Jack Halberstam’s writing, the show runs until June 29 at the Baxter Street Project Space and Café at 128 Baxter Street on the Lower East Side. Halberstam, the Director of Columbia University’s Institute for Research on Women, Gender, and Sexuality,  calls wildness “a marker of a desire to return queerness to the disorder of an unsorted field of desires and drives.”

The book and exhibition evolved from the Queer Critique Group at Baxter St, a biweekly, virtual critique group that was launched in June of 2020 as a way for participants to gain critical feedback, support, and community. The group welcomes new members at any point.
