Anna Shteynshleyger was born in Moscow, Russia (1977) and emigrated to the United States in 1992. She received her MFA from Yale University in 2001 and the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2009. She has held numerous solo exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago), Moti Hasson Gallery (New York), Dvir Gallery in Tel Aviv and most recently a survey exhibition at The Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago. Shteynshleyger’s work has been included in many group exhibitions. Among them: the International Center of Photography, The Jewish Museum, the Nelson-Adkins Museum in Kansas City, MO, Murray Guy Gallery, the Houston Museum of Fine Art, Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago) and The Turner Contemporary Museum in Kent, England, among others. In 2011 Shteynshleyger became a recipient of the Luis Comfort Tiffany Award. She is on the faculty at Pratt Institute located in Brooklyn, NY. Her website is www.shteynshleyger.com.
